Give AUB Dorms Students Their Rights

On July 21st, i.e. during the reading period for the finals of Summer 2014-2015, many dorms students received an email saying they were accepted in semi-private rooms instead of their choice on the application, and that they had only a bit over 24 hours to respond on whether they would take these new rooms or get wait-listed. Inquiries about this matter and pleas to extend the deadline till after the finals were met with ambiguous answers and blatant rejections respectively.

1. Revert the priority back to what it was before Spring 2014-2015 (old continuing residents over new applicants) as it is a more sustainable solution,

2. Revert the semi-private male rooms back to their original pricing as double rooms, as nothing has changed in these rooms except the price and status,

3. Be more transparent with the decisions being made, such as why dorms residents were subject to price increases (double: 60,000 LBP, semiprivate: 75,000 LBP, etc..), priority changes, RA selection and termination criteria, and changes made to the options on dorms applications, questions about which were met with ambiguous answers,

4. Accept all wait-listed continuing residents' application provided that they applied on time,

5. Remove all dorms cancellation fees that resulted from the confusion following this sudden change, which was accompanied by a very short, inadequate time & duration to give a final decision,

6. Look into the possibility of bringing back Medicine students to dorms.
