SAVE THE WILSON MAJOR MORRIS COMMUNITY CENTER-Save our SENIOR PROGRAM

  • by: Kay Kay Gamble
  • recipient: The Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Public Advocate Leticia James, CM Mark Levine, Former CM Robert Jackson, AM Denny Farrell, CgM Charles Rangel, Sen. Bill Perkins, AM Keith Wright

This Community Center has and still provides the event spaces for numerous families to have Baby Showers, Wedding Receptions, Children Birthday parties & Church Events at affordable pricing when many couldn't and can't afford other locations in and around the area.

It provides a safe and comfortable location for the Seniors in our neighborhood to come, eat, sit, and enjoy each other's company.

It gives Affordable Housing Information &  Assistance to those that may need it.  And it helps them with Eviction issues as well.

Many City info workshops have been given at the WMMCC.  AND it double as a Church building for two diferent Churches on Sundays.

We the residents of Hamilton Heights/Sugar Hills Community do NOT want the Wilson Major Morris Community Center sold to BRP Development to be turned into Condominiums of which NO ONE in this community would be able to afford or live in.  This would NOT be beneficial to our Community.

We ask that the Attorney General Eric Schneiderman DENY this Developer's application to purchase the land or Air Rights for this space at 459 W. 152nd St. between Convent & Amsterdam Aves. BRP Development LLC wants to destroy the Wilson Major Morris Community Center and put our Seniors out on the street!

This Center has been a safe haven for many years to the Youth & Children of this Community as well.  Many acknowledge having had the WMMCC in the Community saved their lives due to the many Youth and Children's Programs they were apart of and feel should be BACK in there.  We DON'T NEED another Condominium especially when it WON'T be affordable to those of us that live and raise our families here.

We ask our local Elected Officials to SUPPORT us and STOP this TRAVESTY from happening.  Provide the funding needed to keep our Senior Program, Housing Program & bring in some NEW Youth Programs.

PLEASE HELP your VOTING Constituents and save this MUCH NEEDED and Beloved Community Community from destruction and for our future generations!
