Save antique Piano Ivories, don't let me become a criminal just because I own an old piano!

In an effort to protect Live Elephants, congress is considering legistlation that will completely ban the sale of any ivory in the US, unless it has documented proof of being "antique." There are many thousands of old musical instrument with ivory keys and other embelishments. None of these have any 'documentation" to prove they are antique--just common sense, which is not common anymore, and not part of this legislation. So, if I want to sell my 1917 piano (that I've owned since 1975) I will have to remove the original Ivory keytops and replace them with plastic-- a process that may exceed the value of the piano. How does this "save" any Elephants today??  It Doesn't--Ivory has not been used on piano keys since the 1960s, and even before then it wasn't often Elephant ivory either.

Please! Let us put some common sense into this legislation and exempt musical instruments. The musical instrument "ivory market" has NO effect on current Ivory harvesting. Don't make you, or your neighbor, or your Piano Technician into a criminal jsut because they want to fix or sell an old piano!
