Request Reinstatement of Bus Stop for Cole Students Living in the Hill & Harbour
On Tuesday August 22, the East Greenwich bussing schedule for the 2017-18 school year was released. With no prior written notification, parents of Cole Middle School students living in the Hill & Harbour neighborhood learned their children would no longer be provided access to bussing.
We, the parents of Cole Middle School students, request the reinstatement of the bus for our neighborhood's children. Our children will be walking on Post Road, crossing multiple busy intersections during morning rush hour and midday traffic. To our knowledge, the school has not added crossing guards to this route. Our children will be walking in all inclement weather. To our knowledge, the school has not aligned a guarantee of proper snow removal or salting.
We have valid concerns regarding the safety of our children walking on a busy state road. This concern should be an acknowledged priority for our School Committee.
The need to cut bussing costs should not come at the cost of our children's safety.
We are respectfully requesting that our bus stop be immediately reinstated.

Neighbors, Thank you for signing the petition for reinstatement of the CVS bus. The Transportation SubCommittee believes our concerns are about convenience. Please stand with me when I address the School Committee during public comment on Tues, Sept 5th at 7pm. We must be clear we do not agree with the District's decision based on concerns for our kids' safety.
