The Department of Natural Resources plans to issue 200 special permits in the Kennebecasis Valley to hunt deer.
Right now, hunters are only allowed to kill one deer in the seven-week hunting season. Those who receive the new special permits will be allowed to shoot another deer.
New Brunswick's deer population has been growing and deer have been moving into suburban areas like the Kennebecasis Valley. But the deer cull is simply a misguided idea.
The places where deer pose a hazard are in populated communities. It is too dangerous and cruel to hunt these animals so very close to children and pets. It makes more sense and is more humane to capture and relocate them.
Stop the deer cull in the Kennebecasis Valley!
