THIS PETITION: DEMANDS THAT NO CHEMICALS BE SPRAYED ON OR NEAR THE POND BEHIND THE HOMES AT THE OAKS OR ACROSS THE POND FROM OAKS.
SOLUTION: INSTEAD OF CHEMICALS SPRAYED TO KEEP FOLIAGE MAINTAINED, THE USE OF WEED EATERS, MACHETE'S, AND OTHER TOOLS SHOULD BE USED TO MAINTAIN THIS AREA.
Chemicals were sprayed on and around the retention pond behind homes in the Oaks community, Puyallup Washington on JULY 5, 2018. With full body suits and respirators a team from the Deangelo Brothers Herbicide (located in Portland, Oregon) were contracted by Pierce County to spray the complete area. Our homes are 15 feet from the area sprayed and the chemicals are not safe for the environment. This spray has exposed plants, animals and to chemicals in or around the pond/retention pond as well as humans. The spraying was not publicized to let the public know or make a choice as to how to keep the area maintained. In years past a crew cut the area with weed eaters and various tools and this kept the area well maintained. This petition is for a NO SPRAY CHEMICALS NEAR OR ON THE RETENTION POND NEAR THE OAKS COMMUNITY. This is designated as a green belt and has many species of Birds, Aquatic animals, Amphibians, etc. that have been exposed to these chemicals and humans. As it is now there is a brown dead area all the way around the retention pond.
