Save Angelica Gwelo from Deportation!

*ANGELICA HAS LIVED IN THE UK FOR 14 YEARS. SHE WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM HER HOME AND FAMILY IN ABERDEEN AND IS BEING DETAINED AWAITING DEPORTATION TO ZIMBABWE. PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE TO HELP THIS DEVASTATING AND BARBARIC DECISION BE REVERSED!*

Angelica ('Angela') has strong roots and family in this country, including an 8-year-long relationship and a job as a special needs care worker. Following a long battle, she has been denied the right to stay in this country, despite having made a life here, working to help others and paying taxes since she arrived in this country.

Under Mugabe's regime she could be seen as a traitor for having came to the UK and could be killed upon returning. Being in a long-term relationship with someone white, he would not be able to visit her without the risk of being killed himself. Until two years ago, sending her back to Zimbabwe was recognised as too unsafe.

Human lives should not be treated this way. We must stop viewing the huge number of unfair deportations as simply another statistic. Angelica has contributed a great deal since arriving here 14 years ago. She is an upstanding member of her community and local church, and has devoted her time to helping vulnerable adults.

We should not turn our back on this valuable and giving member of our society. Please sign this petition and ask Rt Hon Theresa May MP to reconsider the life being put in jeopardy if Angelica is sent back to a place that is not a safe home for her.

Update #28 years ago
Angela has been detained in South Lanarkshire for weeks; it sounds like a prison. She was taken by police with no warning and kept in a jail cell overnight before being sent away. She has had no chance to say goodbyes to her family, partner or loved ones, get any of her belongings, and she will be anticipating a Christmas all alone, and on the 7th January will be sent back to Mugabe, who may view her as a traitor for leaving Zimbabwe. Please help, her situation is inhumane.
Update #18 years ago
Angela has a deportation date set for early January - please spread the word before it's too late and give Angela the Christmas gift she deserves of getting to remain with her family and loved ones.
