Due to lack of areas for young skateboarders to express themselves through their talent of sport, they have found other places in the city of Enosburg to skate such as public spots in the city, which are not suitable to safety and acceptance from the public.
It would help to keep kids active and encourage them to stay healthy as opposed to staying indoors and playing video games or being on the computer all day. Excersice is known release endorphins, Endorphins promote happiness. Happy children equal happy community. It is also a defense in helping to prevent or fight health risks such as our youth suffer from obesity and diabetes.
In the 2008, Healthy Vermonters Survey, Franklin County had the highest rating for childhood obesity. 28% of children between 8 and 14 years of age, in this county, are considered obese. Let's give our children every chance we can for community, health, and participation. We thank you for taking the time out to read this petition and hope you will consider all that we are proposing.
We, the undersigned, call on our Parks and Recreation Department, to create a skatepark for our community.
The Enosburg youth skater/biker population deserve a place to practice their skill and recreation.
