Stop the sale of Daufuskie Co-op property

Petition to Stop Beaufort County’s sale of the building and property of the
    Daufuskie Island Co-op

Beaufort County has published an announcement to accept bids from the general public for the sale of the property and building the Daufuskie Island Co-op uses and Marsh Side Mama’s leases from the Daufuskie Island Co-op.
This property is the same property you are standing on celebrating Daufuskie Day. The same property we islanders hold our annual island wide Thanksgiving Day dinner. Any and everybody is welcomed to feast on a bountiful dinner, at no cost. This property was granted to the island to use for island social events, for personal family gatherings, (weddings-funerals). It was the first general store, our post office. It is a meeting place for important matters. It is the same spot us brave 100 people met at to share personal id information before the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.
The Daufuskie families who lived on this island before the development of Haig Point and Melrose fought hard to have the Beaufort County government grant this building. It is important to protect it for those pioneers of Daufuskie and for the future families of Daufuskie.
By signing this petition you are helping us show Beaufort County Government that this property should not be sold, and should not be taken away from the citizens of Daufuskie Island.
    Thank you for your support.
