Stop killing our Animals - Find Another Way!
Fantastic news - at last a compassionate Farming Minister - Vegetarian Jim Fitzpatrick (appointed in June 2009) will report to Environment Secretary Hilary Benn, who does not eat meat either here in the UK.
Meat production accounts for 18 per cent of annual greenhouse gas emissions, outstripping transportation at 14 per cent. Millions of acres of rain forest are cleared for cattle and to grow animal feed each year, which accelerates climate change. The methane emitted from animals is 23 times worse for the atmosphere than carbon dioxide.
We want Mr Fitzpatrick to embrace some of the less destructive, modern, cleaner, organic and fair trade farming methods being developed around the world. These advanced methods are kinder to the environment, Eco-systems, health and future of our planet and prohibit the killing of animals. Please sign this petition and tell our Minister to introduce new caring farming principals and methods.

Go vegan!!!
It amazes me that food was healthier, as was the land and economies, before factory farming. When animals are raised on small tracts of land, with fewer animals per acre, they benefit and so do meat eaters. Being vegetarian was an easy choice for me. With antibiotics, growth hormones, fat & cholesterol in meat, I find beans, grains, tofu all to be better protein options.
Our animals should have as many rights as we do!!!! Killing them is unfair, it is a criminal offence to murder a human, so why is this not the case for animals?????? Please STOP this and find an alternative.
it is time for changes certainly, please.
Please encourage the consumption of plant based foods over animal based foods. it is better for the animals, it is better for our planet!

Were not alowed to treat humans this way so why treat animals..
i to am not a vegitarian, but do believe in better treatment and quality of life and care for the animals than what is presently the case.
Although I am not a vegetarian, I believe strongly in the welfare of animals and that it should be a key priority internationally. I hope that these plans above are implemented and animals are treated better than at present.
I believe this country should lead the way when it comes to better welfare for farmed animals and more eco-friendly methods of farming.
