The Conservatory Lab Charter School proposed new building at Bartlett Place both meets the goals of the Roxbury Strategic Master Plan and offers strong benefits to the community.
We urge the City of Boston to approve a project that will offer:
- High quality education opportunities
- Music education (both for students and in after school/community programs)
- A new music and performing arts hub
- Publicly accessible performance and rehearsal spaces
- Economic impact (including construction jobs for minority and women owned businesses with local employees and spending for ongoing school operations)
- Support for small and neighborhood businesses (from school spending, staff/student patronage of local restaurants and shops and visitors who come for concerts and other activities)
With over 70 Roxbury families already enrolled at Conservatory Lab Charter School (a number that is rapidly growing and expected to exceed 200 in the coming years), a new building at Bartlett Place will create an even greater opportunity for the community to benefit from this unique resource.
