Boycott Horse-Drawn Carriages in Las Vegas!

Nevada Councilman Coffin is planning to introduce a bill that will allow horse drawn carriages for the public in Las Vegas despite his claim for caring about animals.

Equines will be in great danger in this city as there is more traffic, lights and noise. There have been many injuries and deaths of both people & horses in New York as well as cases of horse abuse or being worked to death without rest.

We need to make Coffin change his vote for both the safety of animals and humans. Please email him at nvcouncilman@Hotmail.com with our letter below and let him know that carriages in a city are NOT OK!

Dear Councilman Coffin,

I was appalled to learn the introduction of the bill to allow horse-drawn carriages in the city of Las Vegas. There have been many cases in New York where horses have died from deydration, starvation, overworking and infections; along with reports of extremely small stables that are unclean.

Horses startle easily at sounds they're unfamilar with and the sudden honking or rushing of a taxi can make a horse bolt into traffic unable to be controlled by a driver, this put EVERYONE at risk of death or serious injuries. Horses also can go lame from pebbles in the road, develop foot abcesses or arthritis due to their joints and hooves pounding on cement for hours daily; making them be sent to slaughter from the injuries. Please do not allow this type of treatment for horses in your city.

I urge you to cancel this introduction and use a more friendly use, such as bicycle carriages by people. Please make Las Vegas an animal free place that is safe and fun for everyone who visits.

Thank-you for your time.

Sincerely,
