Hello,
My name is Elizabeth Moore and I am reaching out to you today to inform you of a great injustice in the community of Farmington, MN. A well respected coach and a former gymnast of Farmington has been relieved of her duties after being a coach for the community (Community Education/High School) for over 16+ years. A meeting was held last night and several gymnasts/ former gymnasts and coaches and parents came to speak on behalf of the coach, Lynn Bauman. To great disheartenment the board had already made their decisions solely and only based on the actions of the Community Ed representatives. She was relieved of her high school coaching position WITHOUT any knowledge of any infractions against her! The issue set forth is this.....

Lynn Bauman has been a highly recognized coach as well as a former gymnast for Farmington. Four years ago, Mrs. Bauman went to the Community Ed organization, as she saw a need to build a program in the community in which she resides and loves. She brought that program to the department and with her time and sweat and energy, created a program which was mediocre and lacking in several areas before she provided the business model. She then elevated the program and made it one of the most successful programs in the community and sought out by many of the surrounding areas (Lakeville/Burnsville/Rosemount/Northfield to name a few). When she realized Community Ed was making it rather difficult to coach in the fashion she believed, once again would make it competitive (as gymnastics is a highly competitive sport, both mentally, emotionally and for sure physically) and for those venues surrounding the community offering gymnastics.

Lynn then decided to open her own business venture and open her own gymnastics center (Farmington Gymnastics Center) located in Farmington. When Community caught wind of the business opening and parents and students decided to enroll in her center (as her name was and IS synonymous) in the town for the sport, that is when Community Ed decided to go after Lynn personally and essentially become a gestapo if you will because of their insecurities and now realizing the revenue lost due to "the competition". The Community Ed department then went to the school board and requested she be fired/ and let go of her high school coaching position (as she had already given a month notice with the community ed program).

The question then becomes this....
Now.. they Community Ed of Farmington seem fit to become a gestapo to a person who HAS played a VITAL and a VERY intricate role of the success of said program because of their own insecurities. When has it become acceptable for cities and community programs to place revenue above the wants and needs of the people in which they serve? Furthermore, make question of one's character and perhaps liable insinuations to better advance a program (which AGAIN was not started by the organization) simply because that person chooses to start her own business and cause competition. Last time I checked this was America and one should be revered for going after that AMERICAN DREAM, and not having to fear reprisal for doing so!!!

Please allow this to be a focus story for this is not right and this is a blatant use of Community "mafia" like behavior! It makes one question, if you go up against the "man" you will be crushed and they as an organization can do whatever ,whenever to whom ever they please!!!
