Homes/Not shelters! Robbery of the taxpayer!

HOUSING IS A RIGHT!  The temporary shelter system in New York State is not working for the downtrodden -- or the taxpayers either.  The owners of the shelters in New York City receive a minimum of $3500.00 per month for each person in their shelter. The total  cost in New York City for Department of Homeless Services is more than $1 BILLION.  Money coming from Federal, NY State and NY City budgets!  Outrageous!

                                         There are currently more than enough Zombie (empty, not rented) properties to house all the homeless.  If New York State would guarantee the rents for an apartment for each person in shelters, costs would drop to half of what it is now.  FIGHT FOR HOUSING!
