Outlaw Abusive Animal Breeding in Illinois

In America puppy mills, cat snaps, and similar excessive horse breeding are rampant. These animals are tortured and are being forced to breed in horrid conditions. They live in filthy, deplorable, and unsanitary conditions - somestimes even in cages with not even room to turn themselves around in. Often, the offspring are diseased or deformed and must be put down. Excessive breeding of animals also causes the pet population to be way over control. Many who end up in shelters are euthanized because there is no room to house them. We can do better than this as a nation, and we’d like to see Illinois be among the leaders in making a change for the better.

We are asking the State of Illinois to outlaw these breeding practices. We are asking our legislators to pass laws to ensure that excessive animal breeding is not legal in the State of Illinois, and that anyone who intends to breed animals in order to sell them must obtain a license from the state. Licensed breeders should be subject to inspection, and must show proof of license when selling an animal. This will improve conditions for the animals who are breeding, make it easier to find illegal breeders, and ensure that no pet stores in Illinois are working with illegal breeders.

In addition to this petition,  I am organizing a letter-writing campaign to inform the state government about this issue, and asking them to pass laws to put an end to this cruelty. The Governor of Illinois is Patrick Quinn, and his address is 207 State House, Springfield, IL 62706. If you live in another state and wish to write to your governor and state legislators, I know it will help.

We can work together to get so much changed. We can save all of these wonderful living beings.
