May 12 is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day!

Approximately 210 million people worldwide are affected by fibromyalgia, a disorder that causes chronic pain and tenderness throughout the body. Some 80% of sufferers are women.

Symptoms include moderate to severe fatigue, sleep disturbances, cognitive difficulties, depression/anxiety, migraines, bladder problems and sensitivity to light, color and/or sound.

There is no cure and no definitive cause, although researchers note there seems to be a genetic component, and that fibromyalgia often occurs after physical trauma or illness.

While May 12 is the official day of awareness, don't let it stop there! Pledge to learn all you can about this devastating, often invisible illness that affects so many lives....
