2017 Gateway Unfairness

As many people may know, tenth grade students that attend Gwinnett County schools are required to take a test called the Gateway. This test requires students to write an essay with provided documents and also tie in prior knowledge to write the essay in 125 minutes. The county is supposed to provide students with possible topics that the essay may be over. The prompt we got for the Science Gateway was one of the said possible topics. So, students were prepared and were able to study. However, for our Social Studies Gateway our possible topics were as follows: Empires and Dynasties, Imperialism, and World Religions. So, tenth graders have devoted their weekends, sleep, and time to studying for those topics alone. Funny thing is... we open our gateway today and it turned out that our prompt was concerning the Aztec which is an early civilization in Mesoamerica. We were not told to study this whatsoever. As you can imagine, many of us are extremely upset that this test, that we must pass to graduate by the way, was clearly not coordinated properly and now we must risk more of our time to retake a test that we will most likely fail because we were not aware of the fact that we needed to study that certain topic. Please fix this or tell us why this has happened.
