Stop the City of Toronto from shutting down UBER

Please sign this petition because the City of Toronto is wrong in launching an injunction against UBER. Below is an excerpt from the City of Toronto's website about the injunction:

The City is concerned that Uber's operations pose a serious risk to the public, including those who are signing on as drivers, for the following reasons:

• increased risk to passenger safety – no mechanical vehicle inspections, lack of driver training
• inadequate insurance that fails to meet the requirements of the Municipal Code and may not provide essential coverage to drivers, passengers and others in the event of accidents
• increased number of vehicles operating as taxicabs resulting in traffic congestion and a possible threat to the taxi industry, including the City's objective of increasing the number of on-demand accessible taxicabs available, mandated by the City of Toronto earlier this year
• unregulated fares resulting in price surging/gouging, and
• increased safety risk to the drivers due to lack of training and vehicle security equipment, normally governed by City bylaws.

How many times have you seen or been in a cab when these types of concerns have happened. The cabs in Toronto are controlled by a few companies and we need an open and more customer friendly and consumer friendly experience that allows us to have more choices. UBER is a phenomenal service the cabs are in all cases are more cleaner, drivers more friendlier and the fares are far more realistic and fair.

Our bylaws are outdated and need to be changed.

Dear City of Toronto,

Please stop your injunction against UBER.  We the citizens and tax payers of Toronto want the freedom and choice to select whatever mode of transportation we have in the city.

We believe your reasons for filing the lawsuit are not proven nor do they hold merit considering that those issues are similar issues found with the existing cab companies, drivers and cabs.

We want UBER to exist and we want the choice.

Thanks!
