Stop Missouri From Harboring Violent Criminals!
If Missouri Republicans get their way, violent criminals could stockpile weapons that are illegal under federal law. And any federal agent who got in the way could be arrested.
In a frenzy to nullify any rulings coming out of the Obama administration, the Republican-dominated state legislature wants to void any new federal gun laws that would save innocent bystanders from assault with a deadly weapon. Anyone wanting to quietly amass an entire arsenal for use, say, in a school shooting or movie theater bloodbath will be able to do so in Missouri--with legal impunity.
This proposed legislation would be unconstitutional. The Missouri Governor has already vetoed it once, but he could be overruled. Tell these state lawmakers not to disembowel federal protections in their state!
We the undersigned believe there are good reasons to have federal laws regulating gun sales and ownership.
Such laws enable federal agents to cross state lines and stop violent crimes before they happen. Your proposed gun legislation would nullify federal gun laws that were written to protect innocent people from violent criminals. What is to stop a school or movie theater shooter from moving to Missouri specifically because it affords the freedom to stockpile an arsenal?
Please rethink your actions and desist from pushing through legislation that will make people in your state that much less safe.
