Doug Taylor has been a police officer for 20+ years. He has served the City of Lawrenceburg with his K-9 partners for years. Officer Taylor has always worked to improve the community.
Doug has shown honesty and integrity even when it wasn't the "popular" thing to do. This was proven years ago when he stopped some unethical behavior he saw happening. He stood up to the system.
Doug Taylor made a mistake during the election. He was running for council to help better the community. While doing so, he went to a campaign function in uniform. Doug lives in that uniform. it felt natural to walk into the function and say talk to some people. Many people have walked into a campaign function while working. Many people make mistakes.
To hold a private executive session and discuss the possible termination of Doug Taylor is wrong. In the primary for his election to council, he received almost as many votes as the other two running combined. That says that the PEOPLE wanted him there.
For those that have forgotten, Doug Taylor won the primary with 322 (46.5%) of the votes, Paul Seymour, Jr 170 (24.5%) and Mario Todd 201 (29.0%). No candiate ran against him in the election.
The PEOPLE should decide if he gets to stay on the job after making a mistake. You too, were elected by the PEOPLE. So the PEOPLE are saying.....
We, the undersigned, want to keep Doug Taylor in his police uniform. We need his K-9 partner back on the road with him. We understand that Doug made a mistake. His mistake did not hurt anyone but himself. Keep Doug Taylor as a Lawrenceburg Police Officer.
