We are a group of neighbors and residents writing to express our objection to the proposed school rezoning now pending before the school boundary committee and that will result in moving students who live in Union Park, Meadow Pointe 3, Meadow Pointe 4 and Country Walk away from their local neighborhood schools: John Long Middle School and Wiregrass Ranch High School. We oppose this proposal for several reasons.
First, it violates the guidelines that the Pasco County School District has set forth to govern the drawing and modification of school attendance boundaries. The plan violates these guidelines by not maintaining current school feeder patterns, failing to respect subdivision integrity, and not adequately considering future growth and development of the rezoned areas.
The current proposal also fails to provide for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school. The plan fails to account for the lack of adequate infrastructure and roadways from within Meadow Pointe and along State Road 54. Meadow Pointe Boulevard and SR54 are already congested and dangerous during the morning and afternoon rush hours. The added traffic that additional school buses will produce endangers students and local residents.
The proposal is a cause for concern not only for individuals with school-aged children but for all other homeowners because of how the re-zoning will impact property values and appreciation of values. This will make our neighborhoods less safe, less accessible, and less desirable places to live.
We ask for your support in opposing the currently proposed re-zoning by signing this petition and backing our proposal to keep ALL of our communities here within Meadow Pointe at John Long and Wiregrass Ranch.
We implore you to attend the districts boundary committee parent meeting on Tuesday November 29th, 6pm at Wesley Chapel Highschool (30651 Wells Road, Wesley Chapel, Fl 33545), and make your voices heard. The more residents we have in attendance, the stronger our case will be.
