Give us a fair Opportunity

On Wednesday, May 8, 2019 all UEI students were told to evacuate the campus due to a health hazard. We were giving 3 minutes to clean up and gather our belongings. We were then told to complete an outside assignment for the remainder of our class time.

Wednesday evening we all received a text/email that class would be in session the following day. At school we learned there was a bedbug infestation and we were sent out so they could treat the campus.

On Thursday we returned to class at normal time where multiple students became nauseous and dizzy. After class students had headaches and vomiting.

By the end of class we were also made aware that we needed to make up the hours we had missed when sent to do an outside assignment. We were given less than a 48 hour notice that we needed to be in class the following Saturday. Most students have jobs that require a 2 week notice in advance for a day off. Child care for students with kids also wasn’t thought about.

We were told that Saturday the 11th and Friday the 10th (depending on your class) would be the ONLY make up day for the hours we had no control over. We don’t feel like the notice we were given was enough time. We also don’t understand why we are making up hours when we were giving an outside assignment to complete. We all would just like a fair opportunity!
