We are trying our hardest to get our voice heard in every possible way we can. We are looking for support both in understanding what we are going through in our loss and also in helping us make a big scream so that we will be heard.
In dealing with the loss of our dog Coco who was shot by an officer, we want to ensure that this injustice will stop before it happens again to another dog and another family.In the fight that we are in we are fighting not only for Coco but for all the pit bulls and owners out there who get a bad wrap because of the breed they represent. We want people to see that the hate that is around for the "Bully Breed" is no warranted. We want to show that there are enough owners out there that will unite and who will stand strong in this fight. We need voices to count! We the undersigned are signing this petition in an effort to show our support for the fight involving Justice for Coco. We are saddened by the events that lead to the untimely death of a dog, or better yet a "family member". We are dismayed by the way things were handled and unsure of why people are not being held accountable for the actions they took. The argument that innocent dogs must be destroyed because it is thought they might harm someone lacks merit. We don't execute people for what they might do, because it is inherently unfair and unjust to do so. This same logic should apply to our family dogs.We can see that there needs to be a change in the way things are handled when dealing with the "Bully Breed". We feel that if we were in the same situation, we would want the same support and encouragement that we are giving Coco's owners. We feel that animal cruelty is not acceptable and this is a case of just that. We are trying to show that people need to be held responsible for their actions and we would like to make sure that things like this can be avoided in the future. Pit bulls are probably one of the most misunderstood animals in this country. Your awareness of this problem and commitment to end the plight of abused animals can make a difference to so many defenseless animals who do not have a voice of their own. Together we can stand and make a "scream" that will spread the word and make sure that we are able to get our voices heard to people who are able to make a difference.
