Puppy Mills are breeding facilities that produce purebred puppies in large numbers. The puppies are sold either directly to the public via the Internet, newspaper ads, at the mill itself, or are sold to brokers and pet shops across the country. Puppy mills have been around for years, but there are ways to put a stop to them, but I need your help.
The cruelty of puppy mills include but are not linited to, overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of socialization with humans, overcrowded cages, and the killing of unwanted animals. To the naive consumer, this situation means buying a puppy facing a life of health problems or harboring genetically borne diseases that do not appear until years later. It was estimated in 1994 by Time Magazine, that as many as 25% of purebred dogs were afflicted with serious genetic problems.
Unfortunately, most dogs in the Puppy Mills live there for their entire life, never having the freedom to run or play or to be loved. They live and breed over and over again until they can no longer produce anymore or are just too sick and the owners don't want to pay vet costs. That is when they are destroyed or auctioned off to other breeders or to undercover rescuers. Millions of people know about this horrifying truth about "pet shop puppies", but there are still billions who know nothing about it. I am here to spread the word and to give information to anyone who doesn't know.
Spreading the word is our best chance to fight against this inhumane cruelty.

We, the people of the world, want to help in the fight against Puppy Mills. Please help us put a stop to this cruelty. These poor animals can't speak for themselves to tell anyone how they are feeling and what is going on, so we as the people are needed to be their speaker and stand up for them. If we don't then who will. There are so many breeders and mills that do just enough to stay out of jail and not to pay fines. We need stronger laws and limits. They neglect the animals and they do not give them the proper care they need. if the animals get sick they do not get them veterinary care as they should. These poor animals are stuck living in fear of death and pain and they cannot do a single thing about it. Please find it in your heart to help us as much as possible to put an end to this misery. Stop the pet stores from selling puppies and kittens if that is what it takes. That is truly the only way to stop the mills, unless they are put to end by the government.
Thanks you so much for your time and I hope you have the same heart as we do.

My senior project is helping out at the Human Society in my area. Recently they had a puppy mill "bust" and brought in hundreds of sick, dying dogs. I wanted to research puppy mills more and it was shocking to learn that not many people are aware that puppies sold in pet stores mainly come from puppy mills. I have 3 adopted dogs and i love them just as much maybe more than i would some fancy five hundred dollar sick dog.

I bought 2 puppies from JUSTYOURPUP Sept. 24, and both had parvo. What makes matters worse, the seller would not return my phone call until 3 days after they were diagnoised. Since he advertises healthy puppies, they should just be that, HEALTHY PUPPIES. Justin Sullivan had to of known he had parvo in his kennels because he was notified by someone in Austin who bought a puppy in June, 2009, his puppy had parvo. Parvo doesn't leave the premises of housed puppies for sometime and he should of not housed puppies knowing parvo had been present in his kennels.

PUPPY MILLS ARE CRUEL!!!!.... EVEN IF THEY THINK THEYR NOT HURTING THE ANIMALS, THEY ARE!!!!!!! MOST OF THE CAGES HAVE HOLES, WHICH HURTS THE ANIMALS LEGS! DOGS SPEND ABOUT 80% OF THEIR LIVES IN CAGES, AND WHEN THEYR NOT NEEDED ANYMORE THEYR KILLED OR THEYR THROWN AWAY!!! ANIMALS HAVE RIGHTS!!!... THEY DONT DESERVE TO SPEND THEIR LIVES IN CAGES AND JUST USED FOR BREDDING!. THEY DESERVE TO HAVE LOVE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME! AND A FOREVER FAMILY!

Puppy Mills must be stopped. Nobody should buy an animal. There are so many stray animals, who need our love and protection. Let's take care of them.

Puppy mills are cruel and need to be stopped. These animals are treated horribly and no person or animal should have to live like that. They put money before these animal's lives, which is terrible. These animals are living creatures, and they deserve the best life possible, just like any human being should. Please stop puppy mills.

I foster for Sheltie Rescue of Georgia. We see lots of puppy mill dogs that are given up to us. I am fostering one now and my heart breaks to see a dog you had so much potential of being a wonderful and loving dog. He is terrified of everything. Does not know how to play with a toy, eat a bone, play with people or even affection with people. You have to shut these puppy mills down!! There are so many dogs in the world already why is our government allowing these puppy mills to exist. We can get per-breed dogs from legitament dog breeds who take care of there puppies and socialize there dogs properly. You have to start listening to the people as we are the voice for the dogs you can not express there needs!!

The inhumane way the animals are treated the sickness passed on to each generation and the general I don't G-A-F attitude most mill owners have. The Amish are particularly on my Radar.People who say thet are doing Gods work should act the part instead of greedy heartless moneymongers who could not care less about the suffering imposed on the poor dogs.I also think Vets who help these people should have their licence to practice pulled!!

I always open my mouth in mall pet stores or where ever puppies are sold and will tell anyone in earshot that most likely all these dogs are puppy mill dogs and they should think about going to a shelter to adopt a equally if not more beautiful dog or look into a pedigree rescue for a dog.every time someone buys and seriously overpays for a potentially sick dog a few will die a miserable death in a shelter or on the streets

There is NO GOOD reason that irresponsible individuals (and all of the people associated with puppy mills are)should be allowed for humane reasons and legal reasons to opperate. They need to be outlawed, period...

I feel so strongly against the business of puppy mills or like I say breeding factories. They don't give love to the mother and father, they are a just a business investment. I want to be active and create my own organization locally here in Apollo Beach and actually make a difference.

I want to start fighting hard and doing whatever I can to help shut them down.

I, my wife, and our puppy are victims of a puppy broker who sells puppies for puppy mills. We are disgusted at the idea of someone profiting from animal cruelty and consumer fraud.

We have contacted local SPCA organizations, and filed with the State Attorney General's office consumer protection division to have them shut down.

I am signing because I care and feel passionate about animals. I love to be around them. I want to help keep them safe and keep the hurt and sadness out of their eyes. Cause once its there its there for good.

I am going to put up flyers and try my best to run an add in the local newspaper.... If allowed. I am going to get most people I can in the know about what is happening in these horrid places.

I adopted a young healthy female from Min-Pin rescue 3 years ago. While searching for a pet, I saw photos of female victims from puppy mills. People should be aware of the many safe ways of aquiring a pet. My little dog is a thoroughbred and all breeds can be found on each of their rescue sites. There is no reason to be ripped off by a puppy miller devious methods. I pray for them all to be put out of business.

I am signing this petition as my son and daughter-in-law purchased a puppy from Justin Sullivan of Justyourpup.com which was diagnosed with parvo virus six days later. Sullivan refuses to refund the adoption fee or reimburse for vet bills. Some research shows that many people have purchased sick puppies from Sullivan that have later died.

I've had my son file a complaint with the Attorney General of Texas, Consumer Protection Division and file a report with the Texas Comptroller's office regarding Sales Tax Fraud. Sullivan offered to not collect sales tax if they paid cash, which is a felony offense. Additionally, my son is considering filing suit in Small Claims Court in Atascosa County, where Sullivan resides.

I was recently in a pet store in one of the top rated shopping centers in Orange County, CA. My friend was looking for a possible new puppy. Personally I have always been against buying a dog from a pet store in general. Even if it's an AKC registered Labrador. I also have had a deeply rooted despise for "Designer Breeds". I understand all our recognized breeds today originally were possibly considered a mutt at some point. If you take 2 or more breeds and start mixing them together for a speculated long term goal (to either improve wanted qualities;or to create a new Kennel club registry one day)THEN that could be ok. In example, I'll deal with a Labradoodle, Maltipoo, or Cockapoo at this point. I don"t like it, but if it was done for a purpose like trying to create a hypo allergenic dog then prefect. I couldn't imagine never having a puppy due to allergies, so again that is one reason i can accept those first Designer Breeds. BACK to what my issue was with this Pet store. EVERY SINGLE DOG WAS A MIX. Like one puppy mill somewhere had a complete mix up on what dog breeds were what, and let a handful of breeds run around in a huge barn! There were mixtures I couldn't even grasp. Just take every Toy Group dog and start slapping together any Two-part "Cutsie-Tootsie" name you can think of. Disgusting. Needles to say I completely freaked out, OUT LOUD, and we had to leave.....and I'm sure if someone bought a puppy from there that day, they did it feeling guilty. And ripped off. There was this cute chihuahua-papillion mix, maybe they called it a Papi-Chi, and they were selling him for $1500 but that weekend he was on sale for $950. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?????? Not only are puppy mills a disgrace to Dog Breeders.....I also believe every dog should be spayed or neutered UNLESS they are registered breeders for any given Kennel Club. That way you know they are geared towards preserving the breeds' standards. And on that Note, it would be easy to monitor dog owners who have not fixed their pets. Vet's should be required to report by age 2 if a dog is not fixed. I'm sure they would do it since they stand to gain business from mandatory operations.

Our family is dealing with this right now. We were mislead into buying a puppy from a pet store. They told us nothing but lies. Now we have been thru many months of vet visits and out thousands and thousands of dollars. Our pets are family. We need to speak for them. All Pet Store puppies are from PUPPY MILLS!!!! How else can they receive new puppies every week or two?

Active in many demonstrations. Our goal is to inform the public of a world that they are unaware of before they make the same mistake we did. I am involved and support when I can with the HSUS & the ASPCA.

Just the thought of any animal never seeing the light of day, or not having his/her own water dish, toys, or most of all affection or love, breaks my heart. I have heard so many horror stories about conditions and abuse these animals are subjected to. People have to stop having the mentality that "Its only a dog or only a cat" That angers me so much. I would like these people to live in a cage only big enough for 2 or 3 animals and there are about 7 to 10 of them cramped in it. Or being sick and no one cares or even being killed because of it. Also I do not like pet stores that sell puppies. They are kept in cages, sometimes for months and never or very few times are taken out for exercise. They come from the puppymills. If puppymills were baned these pet stores would not be able to purchase them, and subject them to more confinement. The Human Society has the mose beautiful animals you could ever want. The HS where I volunteered takes beautiful care of their animals. Even if they never found homes for them these animals are so loved. I would love to ban puppymills and the sell of puppes to pet stores so that people would go to the Human Society for their pets. Alot of people say you never know what you are getting. Excuse me the animals at the HS have been given almost $300 dollars worth of shots. Puppies from puppymills have more than likely not. I am sorry I have gone on so long but I really want to do what I can to have puppymills banned. Dogs (and Cats) are here to love and be loved. Your pet is the most precious thing on earth. We must save them. So let me know what I can do. Thank you
