If you have had a bad experience with a mill or bad breeder, visit www.badbreeder.org.
Puppy Mills are breeding facilities that produce purebred puppies in large numbers. The puppies are sold either directly to the public via the Internet, newspaper ads, at the mill itself, or are sold to brokers and pet shops across the country. Puppy mills have been around for years, but there are ways to put a stop to them, but I need your help.
The cruelty of puppy mills include but are not linited to, overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of socialization with humans, overcrowded cages, and the killing of unwanted animals. To the naive consumer, this situation means buying a puppy facing a life of health problems or harboring genetically borne diseases that do not appear until years later. It was estimated in 1994 by Time Magazine, that as many as 25% of purebred dogs were afflicted with serious genetic problems.
Unfortunately, most dogs in the Puppy Mills live there for their entire life, never having the freedom to run or play or to be loved. They live and breed over and over again until they can no longer produce anymore or are just too sick and the owners don't want to pay vet costs. That is when they are destroyed or auctioned off to other breeders or to undercover rescuers. Millions of people know about this horrifying truth about "pet shop puppies", but there are still billions who know nothing about it. I am here to spread the word and to give information to anyone who doesn't know.
Spreading the word is our best chance to fight against this inhumane cruelty.

We, the people of the world, want to help in the fight against Puppy Mills. Please help us put a stop to this cruelty. These poor animals can't speak for themselves to tell anyone how they are feeling and what is going on, so we as the people are needed to be their speaker and stand up for them. If we don't then who will. There are so many breeders and mills that do just enough to stay out of jail and not to pay fines. We need stronger laws and limits. They neglect the animals and they do not give them the proper care they need. if the animals get sick they do not get them veterinary care as they should. These poor animals are stuck living in fear of death and pain and they cannot do a single thing about it. Please find it in your heart to help us as much as possible to put an end to this misery. Stop the pet stores from selling puppies and kittens if that is what it takes. That is truly the only way to stop the mills, unless they are put to end by the government.
Thanks you so much for your time and I hope you have the same heart as we do.

Because this has done on way to long! I first became aware of Puppymills when I was 11! They horrified me then...and still do now, however I can't help but wonder why do we still have this issue 28 YEARS LATER??? I say it's because the the punishments are severe enough!

I will be posting the petition link where I can!

The abuse of mass-production of animals confined in unsanitary cages is not acceptable.

In addition to direct donations, I support a local no-kill rescue group that promotes spaying and neutering by naming it as the benefactor on goodsearch.com. Sponsors make financial contributions to benefactors with each online search and shopping spree (through an extensive variety of stores) made through goodsearch.com.

I am signing this for numerous reasons. one is that i am an animal lover. all animals should be treated correctly and in my eyes as humans. These dogs are used only for breeding and when they can no longer breed they are disposed of. The conditions these animals are kept in are so wrong there isn't even a word do describe it!

Yes i am. i have signed different petitions, and posted numerous things all over popular websites to get the word out. i even contacted my local news station to see if they could possibly do a story on this and get the community educated about this problem

I'm signing this--because just reading the information and seeing pictures of what really goes on, has me crying openly and bitterly, right now as I type this. It's appalling, miserable, and completely inhumane. How could we, any of us, permit this one second longer ?

Puppy mills are the ULTIMATE CRUELTY to dogs and NEED to be CLOSED DOWN PERMANENTLY ! There is no FIXING them . These precious , innocent , helpless dogs are caged 24/7 365 days a year without any love or exercise or proper food & water & vet care being bred over & over then murdered when they are of no more use . Would you like to be treated WORSE than our most horrible crimanals when you have done nothing wrong ? would you want to live this kind of life ? It is just plain WRONG and HEARTLESS to allow these places to exist just for the GREEDINESS of humans - They need to be SHUT DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sign ALL petitions I find and forward them !

I volunteer for a foster-home based animal rescue and I have seen first hand the condition that these animals from puppy mills are in. I have seen the ones that don’t make it, need multiple surgeries, are scared of life outside of their cage because they do not know anything besides a cage, and the ones that are severely disabled because of inbreeding and over breeding. I am ANGRY! It is disgusting, inhumane, and needs to stop. I have also adopted a puppy mill survivor who is deformed because of over breeding.

My state (Louisiana) currently has NO legislation regulating or prohibiting puppy mills, which I think is disgraceful, inhumane and an embarassment for our state.

I am hoping to help make our state legislators aware of the need for anti-puppy mill legislation.

I had a heartbreaking experience where a woman (who was part of a puppy mill) already had sold our puppy to another family. Puppy mills are heartbreaking for both the potential owners and the dogs.

The reason i am signing this is because there are enough homeless animals in this country without the puppy mills adding to it.They live in filth and germ ridden conditions. They are treated cruley and there's no place for a puppy mill. These people are playing God with these animals and forcing them to reproduce. After the mothers get to old to have babies then they get to die. They will never know what it is to be loved and spoiled. They will never know what it's like to feel good and have a toy to play with. All they know is pregnacy. The pain of having babies and the smell of filth that they sleep, eat and live in.All Puppy Mills Need to Be shut down and the idiots running them need to go to prison for life.

I repost for animals in need.I contact the Gov.of states and anyone else that i can.I am working hard to bring these acts of cruelty to a halt.I donate to help shelters and i adopt pets in need.I spread the word about the cruelty we have to open people's eye's to what is going on.They say Thats horrible, well do something about and help me post.Contact someone, help all you can.Don't just sit there and say, thats horrible!

The idea that we are a nation that cares about our pets but yet allows them to be bred in such inhumane conditions is intolerable. If this is the price we have to pay to have pure bred dogs, it would be better to have only mixed breeds and to be able to do away with the entire puppy mill industry. It is hard to sleep knowing the conditions these animals spend their lives in every day.

I have donated to various organizations, written letters, spoken out about the puppy mills and against selling puppies in pet stores, but am at a loss as to what else can be done.

We have got to get the word out to the general public about the horror of the puppy mills. Until we control the proliferation of breeding in these dens of inequity, we will never be able to stop the needless killing in dogs in all of our animal shelters throughout the U.S.
