A fellow rescuer and friend has been wrongfully accused of hoarding,Apparently this is a case of mistaken identity ,This is a very sad situation , and we must pull together and help John to have his birds returned to him,John loves his birds and the birds loved him, here are words from a reporter One cried "Momma" repeatedly as it was taken from the house.

This man has personally assisted myself and Many other rescuers in the past. 9 years ago he helped pay to transport a very serious case from Michigan to TX. The bird was near death. That bird was treated and cared for by John where he would have certainly died without him. This is obviously a mistake. I hjave spent countless hours talking and sharing with John and there is No one in the world who loves his birds as much as John.

I believe that if you are truely trying to help innocent animals out of their bad situations by taking them in . If you ARE taking care of them then no one has a right to just come in and say well you have too many so I will just take them so I can make a few bucks of your honesty!!!!!! These birds could be messed up for life by this foolish action- anyone who knows anything about birds know that even one week in strange and scary circumastances can screw up a bird's psyche for life!!!! Animal welfare my butt!

Obviously this man needed some help and instead harm has come to him and his beloved birds. The cost of helping this man clean up the conditions and have volunteers come in and help (which I'm sure many people would have been more than happy to volunteer to do this) wouldn't have cost nearly as much as the "rescue" operation did. This is not only bad planning, but I'd like to know if the people in charge of this did any research on birds and how damaging it is to remove them from their home! These are not puppies or kittens, dogs or cats, these are birds and extremely emotional and bond to their caretakers! Shame on the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter for their decision to take the action they did instead of finding a solution that would've been better for the birds and man. All the pictures I've seen show healthy looking birds and it doesn't take long if someone is ill or immobile for a big mess to accumulate. If the shelter knew this man was in distress and having a rough time cleaning after the birds, and they care about animals and people, they should've done the right thing - HELP HIM NOT HURT HIM AND HIS BIRDS! Now I think they should do the right thing and let him pick out his most cherished birds to take back home with him and help adopt out the others. After all, he knows each and every one's personality, good and bad habits, and if the adoption would be a good fit. I have read about the deplorable conditions, but if one has broke their back, it doesn't take long to get that bad with all those birds.

I believe he should be given the chance to adopt out the birds and keep 2 or 3 of his special babies. He has a great following and people that know him personally state he cares deeply for the birds. Give him a chance to see who should receive his babies.

If anything he should have been given help for his situation with him breaking his back and all. Instead all he has received is judgement and people calling him a mental case! This is sad and a huge intrusion of rights. The animal control saw those birds and all they thought was money money money!!! They can't wait to get them auctioned off.

Please allow this man to do what is right for these birds. He has wisdom and experience and has a connected bond with these birds. If the birds are healthy, let him find homes for them, so that he can get back to a manageable number. If he needs assistance, let him ask. He has helped when Katrina needed help, now it is the communitie's job to assist him in caring for the birds, until they can be safely placed with someone who can be dedicated to continue the bird's care. If the battle of the wills continue, these birds may be in more jeapardy emotionally. They are being neglected emotionally as it stands. Birds can suffer tremendously when taken from their caregiver and placed with strangers they cannot trust and have never seen. The sooner this is resolved the better these birds will be. Save these birds, now. Lets not repeat Katrina! Give him some time to resolve his own issues. He is being watched, and I am sure that if he really loves these birds, he will do what is ethically right for these bird's well being. Bird lover.

All of those birds in the news broadcast looked perfectly healthy and happy to me and in good size cages, his birds should be returned to him he is helping these birds after they have been in bad situations and he is better equipped to care for them properly than animal control who knows nothing about the needs of these birds.
