Help Save the Laman Street Fig Trees

In Newcastle, NSW Australia citizens are outraged at the local Council who have threatened to destroy one of the city's most beautiful streets. Laman Street, Cooks Hill is lined with 80 year old iconic, heritage Hills Fig trees that are one of the towns best assets. Parks and Playgrounds Movement Inc. have taken the Newcastle Council to the Land and Environment Court and along with residents are lobbying their Councillors to save the trees from the Council chainsaws so future generations can enjoy the magic of this well loved cathedral arch & green space in the center of town.
