I just visited Olin for the first time yesterday, and they took really good care of me. Olin is currently in a very convenient location for students to get to, even when they have a busy schedule. Moving Olin off campus would really hurt students. Not only would it take longer for many students to get there, but some students may not even be able to get there without a car, which many students do not have access to. In the winter time, it is unfair to force sick students to take the bus and trudge through snow, making their illness worse in order to get someplace to make it better. Please keep Olin on campus!

This move is not beneficial to the students at all.

Olin Student Health Center is OUR health resource, and must be easily accessible to the infirm and suffering on campus.

Please I ask that the MSU administrators do what is in the best interest of the students and keep Olin in its current location. It would be greatly appreciated by the current students and those to come.

I believe it is all about location, location, location. Lets promote student health & keep Olin at a desirable location! So, if a student does get sick they will be more likely to stop in because they'll be walking by anyway. I also believe that the change of address will reduce in the number of patients seen because of the convienence factor involved.

As a former Olin employee as well as former President of the Student Health Advisory Council, I have spent a great deal of time learning about what students find useful about Olin Health Center--one of the major features being that it is in a great location. Many students choose Olin as their health care provider because it is easily accessible from dorms and local apartments. Unfortunately, the Clinical Center is not only located in an area where it is difficult for most students on and off campus to reach, but it is also in an unfamiliar area to many. The services that Olin provides have a significant impact on the health and wellness at MSU and therefore being located in a central area on campus would be the best option for Olin to continue providing this type of care.

If Olin was moved to the Clinical Center, I would no longer use it. I would use one of the Sparrow Clinics in East Lansing for healthcare and a local drugstore (i.e. CVS) to fill my prescriptions. I would not want to go so far away from campus for a health center that I feel would no longer be geared toward MSU students. The administration is putting budget cuts before student's comfort and accessibility when it comes to healthcare, and I find it unacceptable.

As a proud alumni of Michigan State University, I am disturbed by the administration's failure to recognize health, wellness and it's impact on academic success. By moving Olin Health Center from a well known and central location to students both on and off campus, the administration is telling students that the bottom line is more important than student health. Unfortunately the Administration is not using the MSU National College Health Assessment and peer reviewed literature to understand how the bottom line is directly affected by the health of students. Student's without easy access to comprehensive health care including wellness checks, acute and primary care and community health programs, are less likely to succeed at school and more likely to drop out after their first semester. (See The Journal of American College Health and work by Melissa Kenzig, Nancy Allen and many more) It is imperetive that the discussions to move Olin Health Center to a new location be tabled. The conversation instead should move to how we can better support student health in a time when budgets are tightening.

When I was severely ill I was able to reach Olin because of its location on campus, so if it was moved I would not have been able to seek the medial attention I needed. Please keep it in its current location, especially for freshman whom do not have cars, its great location is needed.

Doesn't make sense to move Olin to a less central location. As a service to the students, especially when ill, why make them shuttle across campus. If you can keep the football stadium centrally located then Olin can be there too. Take care of your customers!

Many students (100% of on campus freshmen) don't have transportation. How are they supposed to get to a clinic on service road? Take CATA? That sounds awful for a sick person. Think about the students and keep Olin where it is!!

Michigan State University has such a large student body, that being able to offer health care right on campus stand outs. I know so many smaller campuses that do not even offer this option. Knowing that I can consult a doctor without having to drive a far way( or at all) or get on a public bus where germs would be spread even more, is a huge advantage to me and other students.

I've lived on campus for nearly three years enjoying the benefits of things being nearby. Moving Olin to a part of campus more difficult to get to, especially for those without their own vehicles, would benefit fewer people and defeat the purpose of having on-campus health services. Please think about students - current and future.

For Olin Health Center to truly remain a student health center it should remain on campus where it is easily accessible to students. I can't think of anything worse than being a freshman without a car having to trudge through the snow to service drive. What was a cold to begin with would probably develop into pneumonia by the time you got there. Olin has been on MSU's campus for ages and as the saying goes, if it ain't broke...don't move it!

Having a separate center where students can get health care tailored to their needs is something that is very valuable to me. In addition, I think that the university needs to consider the enormous population of off campus students who reside north of Grand River. The current location is perfect because it is conveniently located to both on and off campus students.

Making it harder for students to access healthcare (i.e. much further away) will likely decrease the number of students seeking preventive care and following up on illness.
