3 rd commandment:
You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

About a year ago some friends and I had a prayer group in our high school. One of the conditions were we weren't allowed to pray in the name of Jesus because it wasn't fair to the other students of other relgions. So my question is why is it we're not allowed to pray in the the name of Jesus because society says so, but society can misues it in movies, T.V. and music ?

Particualary "Jesus , "God" or "Christ" have been intergraded into everyday vocabulary like they are just any other word. As Christians we should stand-up for God's commandments.  Why is this a commandment... There is power & freedom in God epiecially in Jesus and his name. Therefore they should be repected and not misused.
I know the petition won't stop people from saying in general, but at the very least misusing it can be censored/band from movies, T.V. and music lyrics.

We can all go a step further and not only not misuse it ourselves, but also speak up to our friends about how the misusing of His name is offensive.

Jesus did say that they will hate us 'cause they hated HIM and they will persecute us 'cause they persecuted HIM. Though, I do not agree with the fact that they took out our right to pray in the Name above all names, JESUS!! Or that we can't say the pledge of allegiance in school anymore, 'cause it says, "One nation under GOD"... I thought that this was a free country? But I guess it isn't.Though it totally violates the 1st amendment of the United States Constitution. You know, when I went to high school, there were many other ethnicity's and I loved that. But I went to school with many Muslims, and during the month of Ramadan they were allowed to be excused from class to go and wash their feet in the bathroom sinks (before praying to Allah, u must purify urself) and pray in the hallways. Now lemme tell you, they were all kneeling down, facing the "Holy City of Mecca" they'd chant a Sura from the Qur'An and then lean forward and touch their forehead to the floor and they'd say another Sura... Now, isn't it funny that all that goes on in the hall ways of a public school, but we're not allowed to say the pledge of allegiance let alone give thanks to Jesus before lunch? First Amendment of the United States Constitution - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
