I am writing a petition to put a barrier or fence up on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to prevent further suicides. On Dec. 27,2011 a 44y.o male took his life not even a month later another male took his life. 26y.o Andre Carrasco died Jan.25,2012, Both man jumped to their deaths. If a fence or barrier was their this could be prevented. The suicidal rate on this bridge was estimated over 30 Suicides in 1995 the numbers are now higher. In August 2008, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority installed "emergency phones" on the bridge that connect to a suicide prevention hotline. These phones still haven't dropped the numbers of suicides from this bridge.
