And why all of a sudden do we get this rambling John standing up for the establishment. Was John at the rally? What is John's connection to Ms. McGrath? Is he a former co-worker or relative of Ms. McGrath? Is Ms. McGrath related to someone higher up??????????? Why is he blaming us for who we voted for in the pass? Is he a Newfoundlander? Do you have any fix for the " /RISIS "? Shame on you John, you know we are not allowed to use the "C" word. Down here now we call it a "WIRISIS" to keep Minister "WIseman" happy. FACT 1: Dr. Blackwood resigned June 13th/08 Fact 2: Minister WIRISIS met July 3rd/08 Fact 3: July 23rd/08 we still have a WIRISIS Danny Millions is too busy to come to our town to deal with the WIRISIS. To blame it on our pass voteing when we turned the whole Central region into Tory Blue is correct. Maybe we would get more if they were looking for votes. Next time as John said in his own words folks " you can remain uneducated on an issue and seek to remove the single person you perceive to be at fault, or you can stand up, effect your own change, and direct your energy at the real root of the problem, the political leadership". Good advice John, now lets all send this to our silent MHA's....Hunter, Forsey, Sullivan, Perry and anybody else if they want our vote in two more years.

Before fingers are pointed and blame is affixed, it would be the action of any rational human to take a step back and figure out what has really been the root of a problem, and direct ire towards said root. It has become too common to seek the heads of those perceived to be responsible, rather than to take the time required to analyze a problem and come up with a more educated solution. Is the crisis of doctor shortages really a problem that has been caused by the leadership of Karen McGrath, or is it the product of a long standing tradition of mismanagement and political flip-flopping that has seen our doctors become undervalued and overworked? To further clarify, is this a problem that began March 2007, when Mrs. McGrath took it upon herself to return to her native province to take the reins of a near defunct health care organization to try and make a difference, or does it date back further? It should be the answer of any person that has been conscious for the past 15-20 years that this problem dates back much further than the start of Karen McGrath's tenure Next one should ask ones self, how much progress is one person expected to make in a year an a half? Is the courage to step into a position of leadership where others crumbed miserably not enough? Is a systematic restructuring of a previously dysfunctional organization into a productive, albeit flawed, entity not enough? Is the lobbying of the provincial government to award multi-million dollar medical diagnostic equipment to the region not enough? One should then question their own ability to comment on such a topic, to ask themselves how they would perform in such an environment. Would you persevere through the adversity of taking responsibility for another persons mismanagement and lack of dedication? Would you seek to fix the faults of another, or shy away? Would you step into a ill-cast spotlight, in the midst of scandal surrounding the health care system in Newfoundland, or be content to stay as far away as possible? I know what Karen McGrath decided to do. This problem of a doctor shortage has come about as a result of long term government cuts, the near-sightedness of our elected members, the faults of our own political system, and the mismanagement and nonprofessional behavior of those selected to lead by said political system and some of the doctors themselves, not Karen McGrath. This is a problem inherited by Mrs. McGrath, and one she has tackled head on with energy, vigor, and a clear view of a better health care system for the citizens on Central Newfoundland. Those educated in the history of this topic, and with a rational mind can see this, and it is unfortunate that those dead set on holding someone responsible cannot. I join with John Thorpe with saying shame on you Amy Coady-Davis, and add Lisa Evans Ivany to the list of those who should sit and fully consider the root of the problem before they take it upon themselves to offer the solution of attacking the figurehead. Direct your comments towards the system and the process, not towards a singular civil servant that has shown her desire to make change. If anything, blame yourself and your fellow citizens for allowing yourselves to elect members throughout the past that have let the system fall into such a state of disrepair, not at the woman who has stepped in attempt to fix arguably your own mistake of not holding your elected officials accountable, of having your heads in the sand. This wasn't Karen McGrath's problem until she decided to make it her own, through shear love of her own province and a desire to spend the remaining years of her career making it a better place. She is a highly qualified professional with experience at the highest levels of health care management, and is an asset to any organization she is a part of. She can only effect change as far as her mandate allows, and cannot change political agenda. So finally, ask yourselves, what can I do to help this problem? And the answer is this: you can remain uneducated on an issue and seek to remove the single person you perceive to be at fault, or you can stand up, effect your own change, and direct your energy at the real root of the problem, the political leadership that you and your fathers have let steer you into the "crisis" you are in today.

If the current situation at the CNRHCC is not considered a crisis I would like to know what the CEO of this establishment does consider a crisis. I certainly hope the citizens of central NFLD do not have to experience what she thinks is a crisis.

I have been a patient of doctors' in GFW all of my life. Even before I was born Dr. Ross Martin was my mother's doctor. When he passed away I had Dr. Alteen until he took over Carmalite then I had Dr. Daulton. Now Im 35 years old and I cannot find a Dr. anymore!!. I've been lucky so far not to get really sick but what if I do?? I have no family Dr to refer me to a specialist or even to renew my birth control. I certainly wont be giving up my birth control to start a family when I have no Doctor. It's a terrible situation and will become a crisis situation before long especially with our aging population. Its another reason why our working population are moving out of central NL and out of NL as a whole. I hope Mr. Danny Williams will find a solution before it gets any worse if thats possible.

IT'S TIME FOR THE GOVERMENT TO STEP UP AND SUPPORT THE DOCTORS IN THIS PROVINCE.NEVER MIND HIDING THEIR HEADS IN THE SAND AND TRYING TO CONVINCE THE PEOPLE IN THIS PROVINCE THAT THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IS NOT IN SERIOUS CRISIS.

We plan on moving back to the central NL area in the next few years and we would like to feel our health needs will be able to be met by adequate physicians.
