The Milam County Sheriff's department has been contacted numerous times in the past month by neighbors and concerned citizens regarding the emaciated condition of this horse in Rockdale, Texas. She is also in dire need of medical care for a bad injury on her left hind leg. Several other rescue agenies have been contacted but no one can do anything until the Sheriff''s department takes action and seizes this horse. There are two other horses on the property that are borderline emaciated.
The excuse that the owner gives is that the other two horses chase her away from the food. No effort is being made to separate her or get medical attention. A county employee yesterday stated that they have been out several times but the horse is OLD, 18 or 19 years! THIS IS NOT OLD, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ANY HORSE OF ANY AGE TO BE IN THIS CONDITION AND NOT HAVE MEDICAL CARE FOR INJURIES.
PLEASE help by petitioning the Milam County Sheriff's Department and demand that the law be enforced and action taken against this horse abuser! This horse needs to be seized and awarded to a rescue or individual that can provide proper care.
We the undersigned would like to express our concern for a mare under the care of Michael Turman of Rockdale, Texas. We understand that a county employee stated that the horse is old and explains the condition of the horse, however with the horse only being 18 or 19 years old. There is no excuse for this or any horse of any age to be in this serious of condition and have lack of medical care. The horse is clearly emaciated and has a severe injury to her left hind leg. She is in need of medical treatment and proper care.
Please enforce the law and take action against this horse abuser. This horse needs to be seized and awarded to a rescue or individual that can provide proper care.
