Demand from Bassetlaw Constituents, of MP John Mann, to Support an exit from the EU without a deal!!

For the 68% of Bassetlaw leavers and any remainers who are re-thinking their decision, please read and share, it is a long piece, however, it does explain how our local MP, John Mann, is clearly betraying his constituents.
Please read and then send this letter to our MP which was drawn up by a concerned member of the Bassetlaw Constituency.
It explains succinctly the timeline and why we should be leaving without a deal.

Dear John Mann

After the signing of the Maastricht and Lisbon Treaties, without public consultation and much political deceit in the years preceding and up to 2015, pressure was mounting on successive Governments from a concerned public about the UK's Membership of the European Union.

In the 2015 General Election the Eurosceptic UKIP Party gained almost 4 million votes. The successful Party in the 2015 General Election, the Tories, through David Cameron, agreed that the decision of Membership of the EU would not be a decision by Parliament, but would be put to the Country in a Referendum. He promised that the result of the Referendum would be honoured and implemented.

The European Union Referendum Act 2015. The bill to form that Act was introduced to the House of Commons by Philip Hammond, Foreign Secretary on 28 May 2015. The Act was subsequently passed by 544-53 votes on its second reading on 9 June 2015, a ratio of six to one in the Commons and was approved by the House of Lords on 14 December 2015. It was given Royal Assent on 17 December 2015 and came into full legal force on 1 February 2016.

The Referendum took place on the 23rd June 2016 where, in the biggest vote in U.K. history, 33,551,983 people voted.
Leave won with a majority of 1,269,501 and each of the MP's in Parliament had a single vote like the rest of the Electorate.

Legislation was enacted and The European Union (Withdrawal Act) 2018 was passed in Parliament by 498 votes to 114. A majority of 384. It became law on the 26th June 2018. The Act states the U.K. will leave the EU at 11pm on the 29th March 2019, whether or not a Withdrawal Deal has been agreed between the E.U. and UK.

During its passage through the various stages of Parliament debate, the following two amendments were defeated.

An amendment to allow the UK to remain in the EU Customs Union was defeated by 320 votes to 114.

An amendment to hold a referendum on whether to: (1) accept the final exit deal agreed with the EU; or (2) remain in the EU, was defeated by 319 votes to 23.

The Tory Party Leader, Theresa May took personal charge of negotiating a Withdrawal Agreement with the EU and presented her negotiated deal to Parliament on the 15th January 2019. She lost the vote by 432 to 202 votes.

We now have a situation where 650 MP's, who all had a personal vote in the Referendum on the 23rd June 2016, will attempt to determine whether or not, the U.K. Leaves, or Remains in some form within the E.U.

Can anyone explain to me the following?

1. Why did we have a Referendum, if the final outcome will be decided by 650 MP's who voted unanimously for a Referendum, and who also had a vote during that Referendum?
2. Why are there still discussions about a second Referendum when a motion calling for that very thing, was defeated during the debating and amendment stages of the EU (Withdrawal Act) 2016 by 319 votes to 23 votes?
3. It is now official Labour Party Policy to remain in a Customs Union and there are now ongoing discussions about Remaining in the Customs Union, by some Tory MP's, even though a motion calling for that was defeated during the debating and amendment stages of the EU(Withdrawal Act) 2018 by 320 votes to 114 votes?
4. Why are politicians on both sides of the House attempting to pass legislation to eliminate the prospects of leaving with a No Deal on the 29th March 2019, when it is specifically written within the European Union (Withdrawal Act) 2018 that we do leave without a deal if no Deal is negotiated with the EU? This Act was passed by 498 votes to 114 and those voting for it include some MP's who are sponsoring bills to eliminate it.

The bottom line is that Leave voters in the Referendum voted to Leave the Treaties of the EU. They did not want, or anticipate the Government negotiating to enter another EU Treaty (May's Treaty), which effectively makes it more difficult to get out of than the Treaties, we are currently subject to and which you voted for.

Finally, your Manifesto, that you fought the last General Election on, quite clearly stated that the U.K. would Leave the EU Single Market, Customs Union and no longer be subject to the jurisdiction of the European Courts of Justice.
May's negotiated "Deal" that you support contradicts the Tory Party Manifesto and Mrs May's Mansion House and Florence speeches. It completely betrays voters like me and millions more who believed May's (now very hollow) soundbite of "Brexit means Brexit".

If you do not deliver Brexit your Party and the Tory Party will lose millions of votes at the next General Election. It is my view and many commentator's views that a seismic shift in U.K. politics will occur if the electorate are betrayed on this.

Yours Sincerely

Nigel Turner
