Pledge to Change Up Washington - Vote Out the Incumbents!

The entire fiasco of the government shutdown should teach us one thing: the system is broken! The division of government into the three branches was to keep any one man from gaining too much power, but the GOP under Boehner brought the machine to a halt for 16 days and wasted $24 BILLION dollars of our taxes.

It's time to put a stop to it the only way we can: Vote Them Out! What I propose to you, potential signer, is that in the next election cycle and the next and the one after that, we vote out anyone in a Federal seat who's already served two terms. They won't impose term limits on themselves, but We, The People can impose limits on them in the election booth. This would include your Senators and Congresspeople - the Presidential seat already has a two term limit.

If there's one thing I've personally learned from this shutdown, it's that they're all all liars and corrupt. They are willing to hold us all hostage to further their own political agenda -- which is 99% of the time just to get reelected! They're willing to take food out of the mouths of children and lie directly to our faces. And it's both sides of the aisle. For example, see my own "Democratic" Congressman Jim Matheson's tweets about finding a clean resolution while ultimately voting against ending the shutdown!

As outlined in this TED Talk by Lawrence Lessig, the governmental process of the United States is too completely corrupted by graft and money.  Take a moment to watch that and digest it, please. The only way to fix the system is to get some new blood in Washington, and get rid of the dead wood. The analogy is good: the tree of our government is full of rot and infestation, we need to cut off the dead wood and patch the holes, and let it heal for a few seasons.
Personally, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore! If you like my idea and you agree with this proposal, sign this petition and pledge to vote against incumbent of 2 or more terms in your House or Senate elections. +1 it, Like it, share it on FB, and tweet it; get the word spreading among your family and friends. No matter which side of the political fence you stand on, vote for fresh blood and new faces in the next election, and the one after that, and the one after that.
Yes, for progressives like me it means losing people like Pelosi and Barney Frank. But it also means getting rid of old baggage like Hatch and Matheson. If these people want to stay in the political game, they can find some other office to run for. Change things up. Or for gods sake just RETIRE!
If they've only had one term in office, I say give them a second vote if you think they're doing a good job. And local government is a different ballgame; lobbyists aren't usually spending millions to court your local school board officials. But the bribery and corruption in our Federal system has GOT to be weeded out, or the whole thing will die!
