I am a huge advocate of dogs having fun and freedom down at the beach and during walks. But, I follow the rules and always keep my dogs on a lead around the general public and on walkways. I love having my dogs off the lead in off-lead designated areas, but there is no fun coming across a dog off its lead in on-lead areas.
This petition is to raise awareness by asking the Rockingham Council to place fresh and larger images of "Dogs on Leads" signs around the Council region.
In return this should protect our local wildlife from attacks, save the degradation of our at risk sandhills (which also contain bird nests), protect pet owners from savage incidents and protect our children from health risks with dog faeces and urine in our play areas.
Current signs are faded by the elements and are not reinforcing the law or creating awareness.
Demand dog owners put their dogs on leads today and make a huge difference to our living environment by upgrading our signs.

The petition signers are huge fan of dogs runnng free and playing, but when they are in an on-lead area, they should be put on leads.
How should we make our locals and visitors more aware of this? By placing larger and fresher looking signs so that owners have awareness that they are obliged by law to place their dog on a lead.
We are sending 1000 signatures to the CEO of Rockingham Council to put up new signs to ensure owners are aware of using a lead when walking their dog.
Please place new signs in the Rockingham region and along the beaches so that our locals and environment are kept safe.
