Hunting needs to be regulated to protect endangered species like the golden plover in Wales. The British Association for Shooting and Conservation is actually looking to provide special permits that would enable hunters to seek and shoot these and other birds on the red and amber list endangered species throughout the UK.
The golden plover is extremely in danger of extinction since their numbers have declined by 80 percent in the past 30 years. At one time throughout the winters, the flocks were plentiful; thousands-strong of golden plovers, wigeon, great crested grebes, great northern, red-throated divers,pintail and teal. Now the flocks are so scarce due to their demise.
Numbers of these beautiful birds are becoming low in numbers due to these local shooting clubs allowing hunters the permits to kill species that should be protected. Birds like the golden plover are on the red list for endangered species in Wales. So why is the British Association for Shooting and Conservation in alliance with local shooting clubs looking to add them on the quarry lists for hunters? In fact, the BASC targets this specific species.
The golden plover needs to be protected in their place of safety within Wales. Your help is needed in preserving these and other species throughout the UK that are on the endangered species red list. The UK and British Association for Shooting and Conservation – Please do not allow special permits for hunters to legally go out and kill animals on the red list of endangered species, such as the golden plover. All these species are imperative for the environment and the beauty throughout Wales but there numbers are continually decreasing. If you allow these permits, all of these species on the red lists will be totally wiped off of the map. Please reconsider allowing the special hunting permits and protect all of the species that are so important to the beauty of your country!
