, My son was killed riding his bike home from work in the early hours of july 4th,2011. It was at 2:53 AM on a dark highway along the coastline from Redondo Beach to Venus Beach,California. He had called me just a few day's earlier to inform me of his 32nd Birthday wish, which he would of celebrated on the 31st of July. His wish? To be able to visit his 18 month old baby girl and her Mother who were living in Baltimore, awaiting to join him in California as soon as he was settled. His biggest Joy in Life was his new baby girl & her Mother. He was the proudest father and with good reason.
Since his death, There was never an Investigation into the car or driver who killed him. Not even an hour had been spent Investigating this tragic event. As his mother, I made several call's to the Police dept. and was told there was no evidence what so ever to open an Investigation. No Evidence? How do they know that he was hit by a car, then? They even went so far as to say it was a drunk driver behind the wheel, How can they be so sure? The cause of Death was Severe Head Trauma. How are they so sure of the TOD? Time of Death on the death certificate said he passed away at 2:53 AM. How would they know, and to be that precise. This is my confusion, How on Earth can they say with such certainty that my son, Patrick Loudon, was hit and killed by a drunk driver at exactly 2:53AM along side this dark highway, But have absolutely NO evidence at all to even concider an Investigation? How is this Fair? Had He had a different last name, or Parents who were affluent and/or wealthy in their community I am positively certain of a different outcome. The Police Dept. would of done their job. This is all that I am asking of them, now. Do the job that should of been done almost 2 years ago.
