Demand Ferguson Police Identify Themselves

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to make the police accountable for their actions during the Ferguson unrest and ask them to identify themselves. Impunity by these officers makes them exempt or free from punishment, harm, or loss when so many people are angry and suffering. It is sad to begin with that racial issues still occur and has resulted in so much violence in this town, making it look like a war zone in our own country! Stop the violence; make the police accountable and identify themselves!
Unless you live very sheltered, you must have heard about the issues occurring in Ferguson, Missouri as a result of a young teen, Michael Brown being shot down by a police officer, not once to at least subdue him but six times, killing him! With the efforts to control and manage the violence that has erupted since this horrific incident, police officers have been forced to arrest many of the protesters and violators of the destruction. However, in doing so, some of those arrested were news people.
Police arrested the Getty Photographer Scott Olson, Washington Post's Wesley Lowery and the Huffington Post's Ryan Reilly and were not wearing badges at the time of apprehension. These officers refused to be identified and can only mean one thing; to evade accountability for your actions.
Other news personalities included Ryan Devereaux from The Intercept and Lukas Hermsmeier from the German tabloid Bild. All were finally released after overnight stays in jail. They never should have been arrested in the first place, but nothing's being done to punish the mystery officers who did the arresting. The officers cannot be identified. Something needs to be done to make officers accountable for their actions in arresting photographers and news personnel.
It is very sad that Ferguson has turned into a war zone while people are in dismay over the killing of young Mr. Brown but the only way that officers can help is to cooperate with the people and those that are presenting photos and news. How can they do this by not wearing their nametags in order to help them avoid accountability from the press or from citizens. Governor Jay Nixon of Missouri and Ferguson Police Department - Your officers really need to be more accountable for their actions. The public looks to officers as a way to serve and protect the community. But what is occurring in Ferguson is horrific; it is like a war zone. While trying to manage the looting and protesters, news personalities were mistakenly taken into custody by officers who will not wear their badges and or identify themselves. This is a clear case of impunity where these officers want to make themselves exempt or free of any harm, punishment or accountability! This is very sad and unjust what happened to young Mr. Brown; the officer may have had to shoot to subdue the offender in this case, but not six times! Understandably the community is upset but with officers evading accountability to those covering news coverage and photos, nothing can be done to resolve the issues. What are the officers afraid of if they are doing what is expected of them; serve and protect the community they are supposed to care about in a legal just manner. They need to always wear their badges proudly and clearly identify themselves!
