Donald Trump lost nearly one billion dollars this year? Do we have another Al Capone copycat in our midst? End the loopholes! Trump losing $1 Billion dollars isn't the worst part. What is really bad is that he offset the billion dollar loss by taking advantage of a federal tax loophole that allowed him to take it off his taxes by agreeing to forego taking depreciation on some of his casinos. That left those casinos as being worth a lot less than they would have been if he hadn't done that. THEN, he formed a new corporation and sold those casinos to that new corporation. After that, he proceeded to sell stock in that new company so that everyone who bought the stock was buying into the casinos that were now worth waaay less than they appeared to be. All the stock he sold eventually went down in value from $35 to 17 cents because of the way he had made the property worthless. So, he basically scammed a bunch of people into buying stock in a worthless company to re-coup his billion dollar loss. It was a major scam that he really should go to jail for.
