CRSSD Security Policies Violate Health and Safety of Attendees

Hello CRSSD,

We attended your festival the other weekend. We loved the music in the venue, however, our experience was tainted by an issue with security.

One of us has asthma and was confronted when he tried to bring his inhaler into the event. Security cited a policy that all prescription medication must be accompanied by a prescription. They threw out his inhaler, and he demanded they return it, explaining that dancing around all day in the heat without it would be extremely dangerous. When he refused to go in without it, they escorted him from the premises.

This is an unacceptable policy. We looked it up and found it listed on the Info page, but nowhere else. We talked to the staff at the medical tent and they agreed that it was dangerous and unnecessary. We also talked to several other people with asthma and found that none of them could recall ever needing to show a prescription to bring their inhaler somewhere.

So let's look at this logically. If people with asthma are not used to needing to carry prescription along with their inhalers, does it seem reasonable to expect them to look at the Info page to determine whether they can bring their vital respiratory medication into a place where they will be exerting themselves all day and are not allowed to leave and re-enter? We are appalled. Policies that prohibit attendees from bring medication as well as camelbacks show a pattern of disregard for health and safety.

Until you correct these ludicrous policies, we will continue to enjoy watching our favorite artists at other music festivals.

With kindest regards,

Your loving patrons
