Silenced And Threatened With Violence For Giving Women A Voice

Allow women's voices to be heard free of violence, free from fear and free from threats. Women are routinely silenced. Recently, Thistle Pettersen was banned by Board President and Executive Committee at WORT 89.9 FM for her advocacy of women. Her right to interview and air other women's voices has effectively been silenced with no cause, other than bringing women's issues to light. She is asking to be reinstated and to be given the right to share women's voices and women's unique issues. Some of these unique women's issues, such as covering lesbian culture and music, do not involve men, making her suspension more blatantly unjust. Please bring us into 2016 by sending a strong message to the world that women will not be silenced. Sign this petition that will go to the Board of Directors and Programming Committee at WORT 89.9 FM to let them know we would like the ban on Ms. Pettersen lifted and we would like the programming committee to approve of her request to air a new feminist news program called WLRN, Women's Liberation Radio News. She is petitioning the programming committee to air this program for one half hour per month. In comparison to the hours of time pro-trans views are aired, there is nothing "exclusive" about airing one more point-of-view on our community airwaves. We also understand that WLRN will not just be covering trans politics, but will tackle all feminist issues such as pornography, sex-trafficking, prostitution, pedophilia and a variety of other topics of concern to girls, women, feminists and their supporters.
