On December 19, 1961, India attacked Goa, a territory that had been Portuguese since 1510. Goa was majority Christian and Portuguese was the most common language. Shortly before and during the Indian invasion, all the citizens of Portuguese descent were evacuated on ships so crowded that some of them had to sleep in the bathroom. Attempts by to force India to withdraw from Goa and return it to Portugal were blocked by the Soviet Union, which is notorious for killing 30 million of it's own civilians.
President Mukherjee, please return Goa to it's rightful owners, the Portuguese.
