Stop the Yellowstone Bison Massacre

  • by: Naomi Dreyer

The driving force of the bison "management" efforts in and around Yellowstone is the irrational fear that bison will transmit brucellosis to domestic livestock, even though there is not a single documented case of this happening in the region. Despite the lack of any evidence that bison pose a threat to cattle and livestock, they are still killed and harassed outside of Yellowstone National Park. The fact that they are not even safe inside of park boundaries only adds insult to injury.
Yellowstone National Park is the United States' oldest park and one of the most visited, and the bison has recently been declared our national mammal. The last continuously wild bison in the country are the ones who live in the Yellowstone region. Please defend these magnificent and iconic creatures by ending Yellowstone National Park's capture program. Our national mammal shouldn't be sacrificed for the unjustified fears of a few ranchers
