Tell Homeless Agencies to Not Pressure Homeless People to Give up Their Pets

It has been proven that animals have a beneficial affect on the humans who love them. They are a calming, soothing presence in our lives. We give them love and they return it a thousand fold!

Why, then, when people are in the traumatic position of being homeless, so often they are told they need to give up their fur children? They have lost enough, why should they have to lose the love their fur children give them, and why should their fur children suddenly find themselves rehomed? Why should such families be required to go through this additional trauma? Yet many times this is the case when homeless individuals ask for help with getting out of their homeless situation. So please ask The United Way to instruct the agencies who provide help to the homeless to not try to insist their clients give up their pets in order to get into housing and in getting help. Please keep human/fur families together!

When you become homeless, you lose so very much... Your home, much of your belongings, AND your feelings of self-worth. I had known that intellectually for a long time, and I always felt badly for anyone in that position, and I've done what I could to help: volunteering in shelter feeding locations, buying basic foods and giving them to homeless individuals, directing anyone who is homeless to shelters.

I have extended the due date until March 31, 2015. Please get this message out there! Homelessness is on the rise, even withe the recent economic recovery signs. The homeless do not need the further heartbreak of having to lose their furchildren! Thank you.

There's about two weeks left on the petition. Again, thank you who already signed; it is greatly appreciated, especially by those able to stay a family while getting housing help. The fact the petition was posted during a busy holiday season may mean not everyone saw it, though. If you could, please post this to social media, & ask family, friends, and colleagues to sign that will be great! We can do this, we can make a difference in their lives! Thanks again! :-)

I am writing to you to say thank you, you are awesome! I am extending the closing date on the petition so that more people can sign, to be a part of this. So I am asking you again to reach out to family and friends, please? Won't it be wonderful to make this happen, where homeless people are no longer asked to go through the agony of making the choice to either stay homeless or to give up their furchildren? Again, thank you!
