Place Moratorium on Wolf Hunting in U.S.
Now that wolves have been removed from the Endangered Species List and hunted for sport throughout much of the western United States as sport without the benefit of sound science for over a year, we ask for a moratorium on wolf hunting to see the actual damage done to the wolf population.
Although there were quotas, there is really no way of telling how many were illegally poached, how many died of accidents and trapping, died of illness, or how many pups were left to die of starvation. The Rocky Mountain Wolf was hunted to extinction in the past, and we want a moratorium to make sure it doesn't happen again. It took alot of taxpayer money to re-introduce them.
The wolf was reintroduced to Yellowstone for one very important reason. They are one of the keystone species that maintains the balance of nature in an ecosystem, which in turn helps to keep habitats healthy.
If anything, relocate them where land and prey food are plentiful, far away from cattle ranchers, real estate developers, loggers, oil and mining companies, but stop killing them. We ask that President Obama put a 5 year moratorium on wolf hunting.
