Free the Precious Four Elephants!

Four elephants, nicknamed the Precious Four, spent their entire lives as abused circus slaves until just weeks ago. They were finally freed - only to be taken back to that living hell by their former owners!

In what Wildlife SOS called one of their most “dangerous, exhaustive and complicated” rescues, the elephants, one a blind 52-year-old, were freed in early June from Rambo Circus and moved to Pune, India, where they got badly needed rest and medical attention.

However, according to a report by The Dodo, a legal loophole led to a Pune court order allowing the abusive owners to reclaim the Precious Four. The court found in favor of Rambo Circus despite evidence Wildlife SOS says it provided the court, documenting the brutality and suffering the Four had endured, including health reports of leg injuries, swelling from beatings, rotting footpads and mouth wounds.

Contesting Rambo’s claims that allegations of abuse were false, Wildlife SOS told Dodo that the circus created a “hellish existence” for these elephants and put them in “terrible distress.”

Wildlife SOS says Rambo, which bills itself as “India’s International” Circus, isn’t recognized by the Central Zoo Authority, and the Animal Welfare Board of India banned it.

The rescue group says it is prepared to give these Precious Four a “lifetime of freedom and care,” and these animals deserve it.

Sign this petition to demand that Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar have these elephants released from Rambo Circus immediately!

To India's Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate, Shri Prakash Javadekar:

As anyone who supports the humane treatment of all animals would be, I am outraged by the news of the return of these Precious Four elephants to Rambo Circus and am therefore writing to insist your office act immediately free them from that dangerously abusive environment.
