Mr. Elmo A. Claverie, Jr. is a phenomenal band director and educator. He exceeds all expectations. He is a teacher as well as a father figure to his students. Year after year, he does his job exceptionally well without any help or support.
He spends his own money to make sure the band students have every opportunity to expand their knowledge through travel and other musical experiences. He schedules numerous community service events both during and after the school session for the band. "Mr.C" incorporates a conducive environment for learning in his classroom/band room. Every student experiences comfort with Mr. Claverie whether they participate in the band or not. He makes an extra effort to teach inexperienced students how to become effective leaders and citizens in the community.
The Wossman High School Marching Sounds of Thunder Band has received numerous awards and recognition while under Mr.Claverie's leadership. This year the band was awarded the prestigious Grammy Award. No other local band has received this honor.
