Every summer the Faroe Islands (placed within the E.U but act as independent Islands) heard pods (families) of the highly sociable pilot whale and any other dolphin that comes close to there shores, they drag them onto shore with a hook in there blow hole, and kill them with a hand knife (taking approx 5 mins per whale) sea shepherd have been fighting this barbaric act for many years, and with the help of social media, they have gained huge support over the past couple of years, last year the Faroe people only managed to slaughter 33 whales, far less then there usual 600+ thanks to sea shepherd. So this year, the Danish government have shown there full support for the faroes and provided them with navy ships and navy men to ensure they get to hunt there whales. This is a direct violation of the EU law. Where whaling is illegal, yet Denmark are very publicly supporting the grind and getting involved by helping to drive the whales to shore, effectively, they are whaling.
The faroes will argue that they are independent and can do as they please, despite recieving tens of millions In euros of subsidies every year from the European Union,
They will also argue, this is the only way they can survive.....despite all the supermarkets stacked full of regular food shipments, the Faroe Islands are very wealthy, and simply think they can do as they please, even if it means brainwashing and poisoning there children with Mercury infested whale meat.
