Remember Harvey Milk With Renamed Boulevard!

Harvey Milk was a brave man and one of the first openly gay individuals to hold public office in the United States. In 1977, he was elected to serve on San Francisco's Board of Supervisors. His assassination--in the prime of his life and only a year into his service--was a tragedy.

Now an LGBT activist group is asking Salt Lake City to remember Milk and honor his achievements by naming a boulevard after him. If they are successful, 900 South will bear the name of Harvey Milk. Please join with me in asking Salt Lake City's council members to support this name change.

Dear Salt Lake City Council:

We the undersigned believe that Harvey Milk was a hero and an early champion of LGBT rights. Milk stepped bravely out of the closet in an era when to do so was dangerous. And he paid for his bravery with his life. His assassination was a tragedy. As such, we agree with Salt Lake City's local LGBT community that a boulevard should be named in his honor. We support the movement to rename 900 South to "Harvey Milk Boulevard." Please make it so.
