SAVE GEZI PARK IN ISTANBUL, STOP THE POLICE VIOLENCE IN TURKEY!

Thousands of Turkish citizens have been injured in the last few days after brutal confrontations with government police.

For a long time, Turkey has been governed by an Islamic party named AKP. This political party has made people suffer who love their country and the environment, who demands democracy, liberty (especially for women) , rule of law, justice, modern thinking, equalty between different people who has different religion and race. 

In last years, government police beat and arrested people violently at every single protest for liberty, rights and any other subject against government policies. The people of Turkey have been abused for religion by the government via police force for years. But because Turkish media is being controlled by the government, there is no free press anymore to cover this injustice.

Finally, people lost patience.

The government decided to destroy the Gezi Park in Istanbul, a beautiful park and one of the last green places in the city (same as Hyde Park or Central Park), and to build a shopping mall instead. After that a small group of people who wanted to save the Park started a protest in the Park. They built tents, stayed there, played music and read books for 3 days. On 31th May 2013, the police attacted to the humanist protesters by using chemical weapons such as pepper bomb and burned their tents.

Proud people of Istanbul started a bigger protest and that night was a bloody night. 3 people went blind, 1 person lost her ear, a lot of badly and deadly injured and 400 people injured.

Since that night, protests all over Turkey keeps going and rising and at the same time police violence is rising too. There are thousands of people injured, arrested and abused by the police with handcuffs on their hands!
