Protest City of Millbrae, CA Sewer Rate Increases

Millbrae is proposing rate hikes Effective 8/1/2015 on already high Sewer charges that will increase every year over the next 5 years. They are also proposing a new Sanitary Sewer Overflow charge on top of the Sewer service charge we are already paying. The new Sanitary Sewer Overflow charge will last at least 21 years through 2036.

By July 2019, the average Millbrae Residential customer will have to pay $82.80 per month just for Sewer charges alone, $165.60 bi-monthly. Add to that $30 bi-monthly for Water Meter Service and now the total bi-monthly service charge goes up to $195.60.  Now consider adding to that the cost of actual water/sewer usage and you can imagine how expensive our bi-monthly water bills will be.

We can stop this rate increase if the majority of Millbrae Water customers send in written protests by the deadline of July 28, 2015 by 7:00pm.

What is a majority?  According to the Millbrae Public Works Director, there are 6,700 water connections in the City of Millbrae including both Residential and Commercial.   Majority is 50% + 1. 

We need 3,351 Millbrae Water customers to formally protest in order to stop this increase. If you agree these Sewer Charges are out of control, please let your voices be heard.

Protests must be submitted in writing and may be mailed or delivered in person to the City Clerks office at 621 Magnolia Ave. Millbrae 94030 by the deadline of July 28, 2015 by 7:00pm.  Email protests will not be accepted.  Only one protest per service address will be counted.  Millbrae Residents only please.

Written protests must include:

1. Address of impacted property
2. Statement in opposition to waste water rate increases
3. Name and signature of person submitting the protest.

Any Millbrae record owner or tenant responsible for payment of water services may submit a written protest.

The purpose of this online petition is for communicating how many protests are needed to stop the increase and provide a means of tracking how close we are to meeting the majority.  To sign you must enter your full name, address and email.  You may choose not to display your name on the petition.  If you choose to display your name, your address and email will NOT be displayed.
